Facts About Car Ignition System
When you put your keys on the ignition, switch and turn it, that's the only time your car starts. But ever wonder how and why it starts? Car ignition system is the automobile component responsible for making your car start and run. Below is a brief explanation of how auto ignition system works.
Car ignition system is usually switched on and off through a lock switch and is operated with a key.
When you turn on the ignition, a current will flow from the battery. This makes the spark
plug to emit a tiny burst of electricity, causing the gasoline to explode inside the engine's combustion
chamber. But it doesn't mean blowing up your car for it only happens inside the engine. The explosion pushes down the
engine valves and pistons that provide force for the wheels to turn and run the car forward. Hence, the main
purpose of the car ignition system is to provide initial energy to start the engine. Once there is no electricity, the entire process quickly stops.
The timing of the spark is very important in the operation of car ignition system. This timing can either be advanced or retarded depending on
conditions. The ignition system on your car has to work in perfect flow with the rest of the engine. The purpose of the right
timing is to ignite the fuel at exactly the right time so that the expanding gases can do the maximum amount
of work. If the ignition system fires at the wrong time, power will fall and gas consumption and emissions can
increase. Most amateur drivers or those who are just starting to drive are having a hard time starting the car because they don't know the importance of timing and understand how the ignition system works.
